About Us
Lede New Orleans is a community journalism nonprofit that equips creative professionals from underrepresented communities, age 18-25, with skills, tools and resources to transform local media. We’re working toward a future where local media reflects the community it serves and emerging voices are leading that movement.
The stories and information on this website are reported, produced and edited by participants in our paid Community Reporting Fellowship program, which supports local BIPOC and LGBTQ+ creative professionals, age 18-25, in sharpening their multimedia journalism and civic leadership skills. Each fellowship cohort – the fellowship runs twice a year – reports on a different issue relevant to underrepresented communities in our city. Past fellowships have reported on life and culture amid the Covid-19 pandemic, K-12 education, food access and mental health care access.
Our content is created with and for the community. Please subscribe to follow the work of our Community Reporting Fellows. Your support makes this site possible and allows Lede New Orleans to continue to exist. Thank you!
